Sucked right in

From page one, I was pulled right into this story. The real world ceased to exist. It was just Riley and the Bennetts. The story took off like a train gathering speed and did not stop once.
I found myself completely immersed in the storyline, completely and utterly compelled to keep reading, until I could no longer stay awake.
I love Tijan's mafia books. This one is fantastic, and my favourite book this year, so far.

It's difficult to write a review for a book that has totally captured and ensnared you.. Has you clinging to a cliff edge, that you will happily jump off to just get more of these characters and even more entwined with their lives

Riley knows a cruel life, she's lived one and escaped it. The time spent at Hillcrest Boarding school and her room mate and friend Brooke Bennett being one of her best times, even though Brooke was the Mafia Princess daughter of one of the biggest crime families. Brooke never shared a lot of her family but Riley has had occasions where she has been in their company. Even back then, the cold, ruthless power emanating from Kai Bennett was a force you could feel in your very bones.

Now years later, Riley's life centers around helping to protect people, Brooke has gone missing and she is catapulted into Kai Bennett's circle.
OMG this book is beyond anything you could imagine or expect. From beginning to end, you can feel the intensity. The raw power, the determination, the cold calculating Kai Bennett is definitely a man you will both love and hate. He will stop at nothing to find his sister, he will happily end anyone without a seconds thought and he will go to any length including abducting and using Riley.
Mind blown with the twists and turns in this book, my emotions had more ups and downs than a roller coaster, tension and danger, giggles and lust, i can't even put into words how much and how completely each page of this book owned me. I loved Kai, I hated Kai, I LOVE Kai. You just knew this man wasn't evil but he had no hesitation of performing the most evil of deeds when he deemed it called for. I adored Riley, she had strength, she had character, and she was such a badass, you just want to be her. She's a protector as is Kai but they are at totally different ends of the spectrum, yet this author moulds the two together is just pure genius !!! This whole family will take over your heart in ways you will never see coming!! I'm still reeling from this book, it takes the concept of mafia books to a whole new level for me and is unlike any other!!!! ...more
