How dare you ruin this Sara Ney? Huh?!?

After reading the first book I really wanted one with Zeke. I was 90% sure I would rate it even higher than Book #1, sure I would love it. So when I saw there was one, I was over the moon. Well not really, didn't quite go into orbit but I was hovering above ground for sure.

After reading the first book I really wanted one with Zeke. I was 90% sure I would rate it even higher than Book #1, sure I would love it. So when I saw there was one, I was over the moon. Well not really, didn't quite go into orbit but I was hovering above ground for sure.

So, I started reading. And then I started regretting. Now I'm just genuinely mad.

The book was bad.

BAD

It wasn't the story. I want to be clear on this: The story was fine, although it needed quite a bit of work still, exactly like the story in Book #1. Even though it was kind of buried under the issues I mention below, still it was good. It could have gone for great.

It was the writing. The fucking writing ruined this. This read like draft that was barely edited. Skimmed once and off it went, out into the world. No second thoughts or glances.

Typos and missing words, although those I could deal with. I would grind my teeth and forge ahead. The real problem was the repeating descriptions, the absolutely useless descriptions and info and the bad formatting.

I didn't need - or want to - know the process of Zeke making cocoa for Violet in excruciating detail, like how many spoonfuls of chocolate powder he put in or how much time the concoction spent into the fucking microwave (Don't get me started on the fact that you Americans make tea and cocoa in the fucking microwave!¡!). Or how Zeke made his food. Or how he chewed his fucking food. This was useless. USELESS.

And writing one word "sentences" isn't writing if it is done repeatedly! One or four times is ok but do it more and it just isn't writing anymore. It has no purpose. I mean,

I am so fucking disappointed. Zeke & Violent are really good characters and they were wasted here. Ruined.

Man, this series is so funny and so well written. I love it. The blurb is apt for this one - Zeke is most definitely a level above douchebag and I didn't like him in the last book although I was open to changing my opinion. And change it I did! I adored Violet and how she demanded respect from said douche. I loved seeing Zeke struggle to change but wanting to so badly. There are tons of laugh-out-loud moments and plenty of steamy romantic moments as well as drama and angst galore, so, yes, this ...more

The Failing Hours is book 2 in the How to Date a Douchebag. I really enjoyed The Failing Hours. I love Violet and Zeke.
