I always eagerly anticipate Emma Chase's books. I love her writing style and the stories she tells never fail to resonate with me. I am always left happy but wanting more when I finish reading her books, and that certainly was the case with Getting Schooled.

What was different about this book, was that it was first released as an audible only title. As someone who reads as opposed to listens to books, the hardest part was waiting until the book was available in e-book. And the weird thi 4.5 stars!

I always eagerly anticipate Emma Chase's books. I love her writing style and the stories she tells never fail to resonate with me. I am always left happy but wanting more when I finish reading her books, and that certainly was the case with Getting Schooled.

What was different about this book, was that it was first released as an audible only title. As someone who reads as opposed to listens to books, the hardest part was waiting until the book was available in e-book. And the weird thing is that the first half of the book was slow for me and it felt like it was truly written for someone who is more auditory than someone visual like me. It's hard to explain, but the pacing felt off and it didn't feel as descriptive as Emma's other books. I am usually able to picture what I'm reading and I wasn't this time. That's probably why it took me a few days to get through the book. I usually read Emma's books in one sitting.

The pace picked up in the second half and then I read the book straight through once I was hooked. Garrett Daniels and Callaway Carpenter were a wonderful couple. I loved seeing them reconnect and then discovering what it was that had separated them. It was both easy to see their connection and hard when they struggled with what they needed. However, I liked how they worked through those struggles.

I also enjoyed seeing them as co-workers and the love they had for their jobs and the kids they had a chance to teach and influence. Emma really conveyed teachers, their jobs, and the students they teach well. I loved how she addressed a myriad of issues teens face, their motivations, and reactions as well.

Garrett and Callie had lots of chemistry and once they finally found a time and place to deal with it, things got really, really hot. I also have to say I didn't see some of the revelations that were made, and there were some really intense emotional moments that really got to me. Getting Schooled made me laugh, but it also made me sob.

Emma Chase proves in Getting Schooled you can go home and find love again. I can't wait to go back to Jersey, and school to see what other stories she will tell! ...more
