Exceptional and terrible.
Caution spoilers:
Loved it. Totally unexpected, and definitely glad college made me read this thing! I looked at it, thought NO WAY! It looks rubbish, totally not my kind of book, would NEVER have considered reading it before college, but I am so glad I did. I learnt so much about Afghanistan I never knew before, I knew there was a war, but it was interesting to find out about the history etc and OMG when Amir betrayed Hassan, Aww a little part of me died with sadness. I possibly cannot write review great enough to justify how truly outstanding this novel is. Such tragically compelling story which deals with love, regret and hope for redemption. What makes this book so special is like the author said it’s not about happy ending, life is not a movie it’s about hope, a tiny miracle.
Read as a school assignment but I ended up flying through the book, then going on to read another book by this author which i also found really interesting. Hosseini gives north americans a different perspective of the middle eastern life and what it's culture is like, i found it very informative
