Take deep breaths!

This is a beautiful story. Brittainy gives us a heart wrenching love story and I couldn't out it down. Tristan and Elizabeth are so broken and cracked when they meet that I didn't think it would be possible for them to love. But boy do they love, not only each other but the people, and dogs, around them. The twist to the story I also didn't see coming, you think you know but you don't. A great book and I will definitely read this author again. ...more

This book brought out many different feelings for me, I could feel Tristan and Elizabeth's struggle to move forward, their hurt, and then wanting to give in and try again but always faltering. Some of the flashbacks are so difficult to read and my heart just broke while the tears flowed down my face. I loved Elizabeth's best friend Faye, one of the funniest parts of the book is a conversation surrounding why people shouldn't go out on windy days. Elizabeth's daughter Emma is so sweet, funny, and This book brought out many different feelings for me, I could feel Tristan and Elizabeth's struggle to move forward, their hurt, and then wanting to give in and try again but always faltering. Elizabeth's daughter Emma is so sweet, funny, and a hand full at times. I love why she calls Tristan Tick and then how he starts to call her Tock. I got so angry with Tristan at one point when his actions not only hurt Elizabeth but also Emma. I cried everytime Zeus would comfort Tristan, nothing more beautiful how our pets show us unconditional love. My heart broke when Tristan was listening to a message from Jamie and he turned and looked at Elizabeth and said "Hold her tight each day and night, because nothing's promised to us. I just wished I would've held on tighter." I was so shocked by the actions of someone close to Elizabeth and the lengths he went to get what he wanted. There are many parts in this story where I openly sobbed and other parts where the tears slid slowly down my face. One of the parts where I was openly sobbing was when Emma said to Tristan "I thought you and Zeus were gone forever like daddy". Tristan says "I'm right here, buddy." Then she proceeds to say "Please don't leave us again." There is a part where we get to learn that Elizabeth and Tristan's family had met but then we also learn another tragic connection. There are parts in this book involving white feathers that is so beautiful. Tristan shows his love for both Elizabeth and Emma in a special way. Then to end this beautiful book is an epilogue five years later that could not be more perfect, especially when Tristan made the statement "It was quite obvious what she was to me, it was so clear why I always wanted her near. She was simply the air I breathed." ...more

This book had so much potential to be a 5+ star review for me. It is a story that makes you feel every emotion however, some of timelines didn't add up to me, the last 20% was a complete wreck and then it was wrapped up in a bow. When I say a wreck, I mean way over the top drama that really was just far fetched and way too coincidental. With that said this book was amazing (reason for the 4 stars) ...more
