The book has to be amazing, when I´m reading the same book / books a whole weekend over and over again. I did it with both „Broken and Screwed“. They comply with my few criteria for a 5 stars rating. I feel a connection to the story and their characters, cried and laughed sometimes, spend nights with reading because I couldn´t put the books away and read it all over again. Ok, I admit it, most of the time I read the scenes with the main characters but that isn´t unexceptional with Tijan´s book. I feel a connection to the story and their characters, cried and laughed sometimes, spend nights with reading because I couldn´t put the books away and read it all over again. Ok, I admit it, most of the time I read the scenes with the main characters but that isn´t unexceptional with Tijan´s book. I really like „Carter Reed“, adore the „Fallen Crest“ series and devour the „Broken and Screwed“ books. Tijan became one of my favorite authors. She really impressed me.

After Alex´ breakup with Jesse because a casual sex relationship isn´t enough for her, she leaves her hometown in „Broken and Screwed 2“ to attend the same college. Immediately after her arrival she goes to him to confront him with his brother´s secrets. She wants to know more about Ethan´s death. Their bond and attraction lead them instantly to their previous relationship and they reconcile. The difference is that Jesse isn´t the same person anymore. He has dealt with his best friend´s death, has overcome most of his grief and wants a regular relationship with Alex. Only Ethan´s secrets and Alex´s fear of love and loss stand between them.

In „Broken and Screwed 2“ Alex is still the first-person narrator of the whole book. There are no alternations in perspectives. Tijan´s spelling style is detailed and vivid like I used to know and love it. I´m really impressed with her capability to transport her character´s feelings. Her story is unique and very different from other books. I value her combination of multiple storylines. She combines love, sex and relationships with serious issues and nothing comes easy for her characters. They have to fight for their happy endings. The story´s time frame is longer than in average romance novels. While other love stories ends after a few weeks or months, Alex and Jesse need more than two years to a normal relationship. She gives the characters time to evolve. It´s something I appreciate because in my opinion an intact relationship needs time. Because of Tijan´s focus on the psychological aspects of human behavior and her honestly portraits of main and minor characters the characters have to overcome some obstacles. In particular Alex has to deal with her previous experiences of loss and her fear to loose Jesse.

At last I want to mention Tijan´s extraordinary handling of Ethan´s death and Alex´ and Jesse´s „ghost“ experiences. I´m very opinionated when it comes to after death experiences between deceased persons and their bereaved. In stories about real persons I don´t want to read about ghosts or other paranormal phenomenon. In my opinion Tijan walks the fine line perfectly. When Alex and Jesse feel Ethan´s presence, a chair moves unexpectedly or Alex´ niece speaks with an imaginary friend, Tijan describes Alex´ and Jesse´s way to deal with Ethan´s death. It could be or couldn´t be Ethan´s ghost. The readers have to choose what they think.
