Like just about every Tijan book I've read, this one grabbed my attention and held on right to the end. Nobody can sell a YA novel to me like Tijan can! A relatively short, standalone audiobook, I was able to finish it in 1-2 days commute time.

This story centers on Jordan, aka Jo, a college-aged girl that is hiding from her past. When Jordan was in high school, she was saved by Kian from an attack by her foster father. Kian was the billionaire "golden boy" of the town and she was a nobody.

It’s no secret by now, I love Tijan’s stories. She has some of the best male characters, powerful, mysterious and protective and I love them all. Kian is no exception. Mason Kade and Carter Reed welcome your mate, my next book boyfriend.

I relished in the constant fear running underground, never leaving me throughout the book.

I could feel Jo’s fear right through my bones. When Kian was set free, the tension is mounting. She saw him everywhere, on television, in the papers. The countdown has begun and it’s only a matter of time before he finds her, the girl he went in prison for. The girl he killed for.

What will he do to her once he finds her?

We don’t know what happened to Jo at first. We guess Kian saved her from a terrible fate taking the blame. Kian is the son of a very wealthy family. Distant, mysterious, he’s worshipped by many. Adored by the media, they made him Jo’s savior while she’s the temptress, Satan’s pawn, the reason behind Kian’s demise.
She’s been hounded by the press from the very beginning, making her life a living hell. She was the victim but was seen as the villain in the public’s eyes.
Hiding from everybody, she has a new identity, new friends and a new life. Kian is threatening it all. She won’t have a chance at normalcy any longer and she’ll be thrown to the wolves again.

The tension is a constant in this book. Is Kian an enemy or a friend? Is he sincere in his desire to protect her or does he have a hidden agenda? What will happen once Jo’s discovered and the paparazzi will hunt her again? Will Kian succeed in placing the blame on Jo’s shoulders, making her pay? How will her friends react once she’s outed?
I loved how Tijan played with my perception of Kian. He appeared intimidating, menacing, a threat lurking in the shadows in the beginning, a silent ghost. Then he morphed into a protector, someone willing to do everything to protect Jo but was he sincere? He was smoking hot, had killed for her and would do it again. If that does not make your ovaries go into a frenzy I don’t know what will!

Jo will make you go all mother hen on her. She’s had no luck in life. Orphaned, abused, she is shaken and suffers from nightmarish memories. She is the victim and yet, she’s been hunted, swore at and is seen as the wicked witch. It was so unfair! How hard it must be when you’ve been tortured and you’re still the villain. It reminded me of these girls who’ve been raped but they were to blame because they walked alone in the dark or wore a short skirt or… Really??? You think Jo asked for it? Don’t you think she ached to be loved, respected and protected? I was really proud of her when she decided to fend for herself and confront all these ignorant and biased people. Way to go girl!

So once again it’s a huge hit and I’ll add this book to my “I-love-Tijan’s-books” pile.

I can honestly say that I've always been a fan of the books by Tijan and again with this book I was not let down. This book was one that once you start reading you can't put it down. It had me guessing a few times but in the end I wasn't disappointed. ...more

Every time I read another Tijan book, they keep getting better and better. When I thinks she's outdone herself, I read another one of her books that blows me away. I loved this book! I instantly fell in love with the characters. You will too! Read it! You'll love it! ...more

I loved this story. It was sweet and still dark in the best way. I wish we could get a book on Erica and Wanker. I really loved all of the supporting characters.

I loved Kian! He was everything Jordan needed whether she knew what she needed at the moment or not. Jordan was strong as hell and when help was needed she tended to accept the help and be grateful for it. Snark was amazing, as was Erica and Wanker. When he wasn't being an ass Jake was funny and a much needed slap of reality at times. I enjoyed the ups and downs and suspense of what Kian's true motives were. I also loved if wondering if Jordan would run, out herself, or stay put and fight. ...more
