In Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline, present day orphan Molly signs on to help 91 year-old Vivian Daly clean out her attic to complete some required community service. Through the attic project, we travel back to 1929, when Vivian was a recently orphaned Irish immigrant placed on an orphan train in New York headed to the Midwest. Shelves: must-read, recommended-by-a-fellow-bibliophile

I did enjoy the novel, and it was a solid read. There was something missing in the story, however. An electricity of character that all the great novels have was simply not present.
