Very strong debut from the author. I was so uncomfortable reading it (in the good suspense novel sort of way) and by the end I just wanted to know what was going to happen and wasn't going to put the book down until I had answers.

When we started hearing Anna's perspective I got pissed off. Nothing to do with the mystery, it was her personality. She "rescued" a married man by having an affair and causing a divorce? Wow, how noble of you. *heavy sarcasm*

Never trust a comparison to Gone Girl. Gone Girl was its very own special kind of demented and I think it would be fairly hard for anything to shock quite like it did. However, if you like thrillers that are fast paced with heavily blurred lines between good and bad, then The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins is waiting for you.

This book was not what I expected it to be...in a good way. The characters were so intertwined that the mystery continued on for the majority of the book and I couldn't put it down until I figured everything out. I put off reading this, I just tend to avoid books that have hype. And this one had huge hype. But I really liked it, I read through it quickly (which is sometimes enough for me to like a book- fast easy engaging read) and liked it. I can't say it was a total mystery to the end, but it kept me guessing for a long time. Definitely recommend it! ...more
