There is an introduction by the author in my edition of the book, written in 2017 as she reflects on what her thoughts were at the time of publishing and what has happened since. I swear I read The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood when I was in high school, but I had zero recollection of it. I thought maybe some of it would come back to me as I read it, but it didn't and instead felt like a completely new read. Reading this again in light of the current political climate and recent events in my country was a profound experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't yet read the novel or who read it many years ago.
