This was wonderful & heart breaking & wonderful! I find myself saying delightful & lovely in a pleasant English accent in my head all day long as I listened to the audio version.
I have never read a book that takes place during WW2. I have watched tons of historical shows & read articles on WW2. Never have I truly allowed myself to feel the heartbreak that comes when you consider the atrocities of war. Why would reading fictional accounts in letters cause me so much more anguish?

I finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. I am so sad it's over. I loved these characters and am sad to think that they only really existed in this book. Juliet Ashton, the main character, totally cracks me up. And, I loved the humor in the middle of serious stories about the German occupation of the Channel Islands. I found this story very endearing and I absolutely loved it!

An absolutely delightful read. Even when dealing with a very serious subject matter this book is full of heart and humor. It also made me long for the days of long letters via snail mail. How I long for Juliet to not be a fictional character so that we may become beloved pen pals!

Took a while to get used to the "letter" style of writing. Liked it better the more I got to know the people. Gives an unexpected look at the conditions during World War II on these islands.
