Okay, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is dying to be made into a movie. It's a book set in the future where all of humanity spends its time in a virtual world called OASIS. When its creator dies, he leaves an egg behind three hidden gates that require the discovery of three keys in the system. The first person who finds the egg wins his fortune. As my DH put it, this book wasn't written for me - a middle-aged mom of 2. While the 80's references were right up my alley, they really speak to a specific time period and group of people. I know next to nothing about most of the games they talk about, but enough to get the gist.

I truly loved this book. I read it through in one sitting. I was absolutely delighted by all of the 80's references, which is the decade that I grew up in. I was shocked to found that how much I enjoyed the video game aspect of the book. The riddles and quests are so well done that I found myself forgetting that I am not a gamer.
