What Members Thought

Once I got past my inability to relate to pretty much every character, it was fun. Definitely a crazy storyline but the core themes (family, identity, country) are identifiable and keep it moving along. As a parent I wanted to scream sometimes, but there's a huge cultural and socio-economic divide so it was easy to accept the differences. While supposedly a book about returning to roots and Chinese culture (and Chinese-Americans), it's a biting commentary on the American definition of success.
