It was interesting to see two sisters roles from birth switched. But once Serina is punished for something she didn't do in order to protect her sister Nomi she finds herself fighting to survive but also blaming her sister and also hoping to see her again.

I wasn’t expecting this to be so fantastic or have as much depth as it does. The narrators for the audiobook are absolutely perfect for both sisters. One had such a great male voice that I was confused as I knew the book only featured two narrators & both were women. This is one I’ll have to mark to come back to for a more in depth review as it has so much depth to it re: topics it discusses. It’s definitely a darker world but it’s handled very deftly. I enjoyed this book that feels like it has little parts of story lines from other books I've liked. The ending is not an ending which bugs me, so I guess I'll have to wait until next summer for the rest of the story. Even though I could see the twist coming from a mile off, it didn't change the fact that I enjoyed the rest of the story.
