Major events happen in this novel. I watch the series on Amazon so I was not surprised by what happened in this book even though it was still different. I'm still liking the series but I wish I could stop noticing how awkward the internal and external dialogues sometimes are. ...more
Jen Ifer's Inklings
This one showed up as being part of the Mickey Holler series, but it really isn't. There was maybe a chapter or two where he was part of it. I actually had this case solved from the first couple of chapters. It wasn't bad, and there were several twists to the story to keep it interesting. ...more

I had been skipping Michael Connelly's Bosch books because I wasn't really excited by the one I had read, Echo Park. To me, this one was better. It may be that Bosch's motivation to go "off the map" is more compelling--his daughter has been kidnapped. Here Connelly's taut, fast-paced writing kept me reading. This book introduces a major plot development in Bosch's story, but it ...more

Another great fast read about Michael Connelly's gruff and loveable LA detective Harry Bosch. This one is partially set in the San Fernando Valley, near Ventura and Sepulveda Blvds, familiar territory, which is always fun! ...more
