I first read this in high school and read it again "just because" when I was in college (or just out of college). I think I'll have to re-read it to give it any type of real review.

It's a coming of age of a pretty and young maiden in 19th century England. Apart from her beauty she's an innocent spirit, who constantly sets others before herself.
Her young life, barely 16, starts out with her father finding out he's from an old and wealthy branch, named Urberville, which is now lost and debased to Durbeyfield.

Really surprised how much I liked this classic story. It started slow and, thus, I thought it would be a slog to get through. Not so, enjoyed it greatly. Didn't start reading until July 1. Before that I had read only a few pages.

I listened to this book because I found it on the website below. The reader was very good and the story was more than I expected. There was drama and suspense and tragedy . . . so good.
Really good story. I think I will probably read the actual book. There was a lot of description that I think might have been harder to get through while reading instead of listening.
