I first read this in high school and read it again "just because" when I was in college (or just out of college). I think I'll have to re-read it to give it any type of real review.

I’ve read this classic twice before, so decided to listen to the audio version.

Hardy tells the story of the young woman, Tess Derbyfield, whose father has recently been informed that he is descended from an old noble family – the d’Urbervilles. Her family being in difficult straits, her mother

Really surprised how much I liked this classic story. It started slow and, thus, I thought it would be a slog to get through. Not so, enjoyed it greatly. Didn't start reading until July 1. Before that I had read only a few pages. ...more

This book is better to listen to than read due to the heavy description.

I listened to this book because I found it on the website below. The reader was very good and the story was more than I expected. There was drama and suspense and tragedy . . . so good.

Really good story. I think I will probably read the actual book. There was a lot of description that I think might have been harder to get through while reading instead of listening.
