It's taken me 6 months to read this thing. I can't completely blame the book, my health has been crap that whole time, too. And it's been an interesting read for this time- both reading a book about deadly respiratory illness during covid, and reading a book about recovery and time while I personally have been doing both. Did Not Finish.
I didn't even make it out of the foothills (page 75). Intriguing plot (which, by the way, is simplified and made into a horror movie in the craptastic A Cure for Wellness) that has unique characters, but unfortunately sidelined me with its philosophical distractions. Plus, the "door-slamming phobic" protagonist is just not that interesting. Bloviating asshats, indeed. ...more
