I have become hesitant about reading books about WWII because there have been so.many.written. But as oftentimes turns out while reading about this subject, I became fully engrossed. What an incredible depiction of the Holocaust & those who have survived it. It had both heart wrenching & beautiful moments. Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I love her stuff. They're not easy, nor cut and dry and certainly not black and white. Yet this one didn't quite do it for me. The main reason being that suddenly, after about a third of the book has gone by with the reader inside Sage's head and Leo's and Joseph's, suddenly, we are thrust into Sage's grandmother, Minka's head and remain there for ages.
