a cute memoir by a young woman whose father read to her almost every night until she went away to college. when she was nine years old, they decided to try to make sure they read every day for 1000 days, which expanded to nine years. the author's father was a librarian in an elementary school, so he had a passion for children's literature & together, they read a mix of classics & newer books that he was screening for the library's collection. there are some funny stories about the lengths they w ...more

Shelves: non-fiction, first-visit-with-an-author, 2011

My name is Debbie, and I am a reading addict. And I couldn't be happier about it. I loved reading this book just because it reminds me that I am not alone. I promise to keep reading and encouraging others to read too.

What I liked:

The books quotes opening each chapter.
The commitment
The willingness to share the "warts" in meeting the commitment
A daughter's recognition and appreciation of a parent in a tough set of circumstances.
The list at the end...many read, new read to explore.

I enjoyed this book-it made me laugh and cry (well sob). It's a memoir about a single father and his young daughter and their goal of reading together every night for years. It was a great book-4.5 stars. ...more
