I guess technically this book wasn't a "murder" mystery so much as a mutilation mystery. What the villain in this book does to people is almost unimaginable. Really awful. Gross. Still a good book, though. Aside from a continued mild annoyance at the author's tripping-over-himself love of word play (especially all the "D" words--how many CAN he string in a row?), I found this book to be another fun, fast, easy read. Clever and entertaining. Deliriously dark and delicious. Or something like that.

Dearly Devoted Dexter is a much better novel than the first in this series. I've already expressed my dislike for book-Deb. Well, she doesn't really get much better in this novel, but I can stand her presence more here.

I love Dexter’s narrative voice in this series. The bad guy in this book is especially heinous, and I was surprised at how far Lindsay was willing to go with some of his main characters. I really look forward to the next book! Dexter has some interesting changes coming in his life.
Our favorite psychopath is back. This time Dexter is helping his sister and "our nation's government" track a serial killer who has vengeance in mind. I found myself skimming in places. Not as engaging as the first book.
