This was a fairly long book, and I admit that the length daunted me for several months. Which is a shame really, because it is very readable, with some beautiful but concise descriptions. I read an ARC of this book and am grateful to Netgally and the publishers for the chance to do so. From the outset you can tell it is a Kate Morton book, the writing is so symbolic of her style. There is so much in this book for readers to like. It is historical fiction, a ghost story and a mystery all at once. At the beginning it labours a little - like someone giving birth. So much potential. Great plot twists, but so many jumps between characters and sometimes the jumps aren't well delineated and are hard to follow.
