To my surprise I really enjoyed this novel, the first I have read by Kate Mosse. To my surprise, because I do not usually read books centred on ghosts, time slippage, the paranormal etc. However this was not the Halloweenish type of ghost story, but one that combined two historical time periods; the 20th century after the first world war and a young man who has had a hard time accepting the death of his brother in that war, and the 14th century and the persecution of a gnostic religious group ca ...more

Beautiful and moving. I deliberately did not read the inside jacket so I might surprised at what the story was about. I loved the history of the region and learning about the Cathars.
