To my surprise I really enjoyed this novel, the first I have read by Kate Mosse. To my surprise, because I do not usually read books centred on ghosts, time slippage, the paranormal etc. However this was not the Halloweenish type of ghost story, but one that combined two historical time periods; the 20th century after the first world war and a young man who has had a hard time accepting the death of his brother in that war, and the 14th century and the persecution of a gnostic religious group ca

A poignant tale about grief. This is a rewrite of The Cave which was released as a Quick Read. I think this shows a little as the first half of the book was a little slow, although beautifully written, I wasn't drawn into the story. From the moment Freddie meets Fabrissa, I loved it though.

In 1933, a man tells the story of "The Winter Ghosts", which occurred in 1928 in a French Pyrenees mountain village. It's really a novella stretched with Victorian-ghost-story inspired descriptions. Good for what it is.
