I won this book in a Goodreads contest which was so exciting! I love Hampton Side's books because he writes readable history. I have always wanted to learn more about the Korean War and I totally enjoyed reading this book. On Desperate Ground concentrates on one part of the war (the Battle of Chosin Reservoir), and doesn't give the whole Korean War story, but it does a great job making the soldier's stories come to light.
