Nadine in NY Jones
I might have given this book just 3 stars, except that this is TRUE! This really happened, just a few miles from where I grew up in NJ. Just a few miles from where my grandparents were growing up at the time! These are ACTUAL newspaper articles included. (Though I doubt my grandparents nor anyone in their family could read, so they may have been unaware of it all).

This is a true story based on actual events and actual people, but it is fictionalized.

I really enjoyed this historical novel based on a real woman who becomes one of the first policewomen in the U.S. The characters are delightful, the mystery is interesting, and the prose is upbeat and fun. The historical details add color and authenticity to the setting. This first installment in the series kept me totally entertained - I'm definitely excited to see what the Kopp sisters do next! ...more

The eldest sister, Constance, sends him a letter detailing the damages and expectation of reimbursement. However, when he refused to pay, she has no oth ...more

This is a fun first book in a series... woman detective... in the early 1900s. Clever dilemmas, smart main character, lots of quirky minor characters. I had fun reading it.
