I might have given this book just 3 stars, except that this is TRUE! This really happened, just a few miles from where I grew up in NJ. Just a few miles from where my grandparents were growing up at the time! These are ACTUAL newspaper articles included. (Though I doubt my grandparents nor anyone in their family could read, so they may have been unaware of it all).
This is a true story based on actual events and actual people, but it is fictionalized.

I really enjoyed this historical novel based on a real woman who becomes one of the first policewomen in the U.S. The characters are delightful, the mystery is interesting, and the prose is upbeat and fun. The historical details add color and authenticity to the setting. This first installment in the series kept me totally entertained - I'm definitely excited to see what the Kopp sisters do next!

Three sisters who live a somewhat secluded life in rural New Jersey in 1914 have a crash. They are in a buggy and are hit by an auto driven by a member of one of the wealthy families who run silk dying plants in the area.
