What Members Thought
When I first started this book I struggled and truly thought I was going to DNF this book. I kept saying I'll give it 20 more pages and if it doesn't get better I'm done. All of a sudden I couldn't wait to see what happened next and I was hooked on this book. I thought it was going to be a 1 or 2 star book and now it's a 5 star book. It took me two tries to complete The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin. I should state that I very rarely read fantasy/science fiction - it's just a genre that not only am I not that interested in, I struggle with other worlds and alternate universes. I've felt that is a bit of a character flaw on my part - that maybe I lack imagination or that I'm just not intellectually "deep" enough to examine the possibilities that these books suggest. I’ve given so many one stars this year it’s almost depressing. I feel I must not love fantasy though cause this just wasn’t for me.
