What a wonderful writer. There wasn't a single story I didn't enjoy. She is able to take the mundane and ordinary and illuminate the small epiphanies that come in those moments. The nuances of relationships, the loneliness while in the midst of others, wishing and remembering things you can't, or won't, share with others. Really lovely. I will definitely be reading more of her work.

Good, but not great. The final story "The Bear Came Over the Mountain" reminded me of a movie titled "Away From Her" or some such. Turns out the movie was based on the story. Alzheimer's stories never fail to touch me because of my Mother's recent passing from the disease. The stories are well written and nuanced. Not a shred of humor, that touched me anyway. Pretty much random excerpts, glimpses from various folks lives.
