Wonderful book. The effects of PTSD are amazing are far reaching. What a gripping story told by the daughter of a vet. I've always loved Anderson (she tells a great story) with such wonderful, well-developed characters you feel you are in her protagonist's world. ...more

I tagged this a YA romance because my favorite thing about this book was the love story. This is really saying something for someone who typically hates YA romances.

While I found the protagonist difficult to identify with(also, the fact she was a toddler when her dad went to war in Afghanistan and is now a 17 yr old was just too crazy!), I liked the other characters and the plot very much!

I imagine that this is a fairly accurate depiction of what post traumatic stress disorder could look like. I appreciated the characters and embraced their flaws, but the over abundance of drug and alcohol abuse annoyed me and I find it hard to believe that child services didn’t intervene.
