One of my favorite reads of all times. This story is told from the perspective of twins in India and tells a vulnerable tale of being young and subject to culture and status. Shared human emotions are exposed and you will feel like you are in the story. The language paints the colors and scenery so brightly that India will be in your living room.

So dark. I started reading this for my book club ages ago and could not finish it. It was easier this time around, but still not enjoyable at all. Certainly well written, but not for me.

Wow! A beautifully crafted book. There is so much here. I can't wait to discuss it in my very academic book club.
Update: Now I am reading it for my less academically oriented book club!

PS #5. Nominated for the Booker Prize.

Finished my final 2024 prompt book with four whole days to spare. Even managed to read a few extra books this year.
