I haven't read Dean Koontz for a long time, but this book is proof to me that his gift for storytelling has translated very well to the current day and age. The plot moves along at a quick pace, and is frighteningly believable. The science, while not currently extant, is plausible. The heroine is fascinating to watch as she doggedly pursues the truth. If you are going to read one book this summer, let this be the one!

Jane just lost her husband to suicide. And it seems there has been a rise in the number of suicides, but no one is mentioning any of that. Did I mention Jane is a crack FBI agent?

So Jane goes to 'the silent corner', off the grid, so to speak, where she can't be traced, because it seems there are some really bad people not liking where she is poking her nose.
