My favorite King book so far!

I might be overrating this a bit but I just can't help it. Yes, it's overlong (it is King though...) and it does take at least 100 pages to get off the ground ("Oough," as Holly Gibney would say) but once it gets going, I was really entertained from then on.
The A.V. Club called it "an 'It' for the Trump era," and I think that's an apt description. This is, for sure, King's best book in recent years. I was not a fan of the Bill Hodges trilogy, but the upside is that the best character from those ...more

I’d read “End of Watch” before this so I was familiar with one of the main characters, Holly Gibney, from her recurring role in the Bill Hodges trilogy, and knew some of her back story. However, I doubt it would have mattered if I hadn’t. The author put together a compelling story with a great cast of characters, including a truly chilling bad guy. There’s sadness and tragedy, but all turns out well in the end. Or does it?

Another fine page-turner from Stephen King. It starts out as a police procedural but eventually turns into something very different. I was pleasantly surprised when a familiar character from other King novels showed up, becoming an integral part of the second half of the book. Creepy and well paced, like the really good Stephen King novels. Reminded me of X-Files episodes back in their prime.

I enjoyed this book, which combined some classic "King-esque" characters with one of his most interesting recent creations, Holly Gibney from the Bill Hodges trilogy. The story is classic King, a mix of horror, suspense, and supernatural.
