I really enjoyed the latino culture representation in this book. I'm not Mexican and my parents are nothing like Julia's but I could definitely recognize parts of my family and traditions.
I liked that the author didn't shy away from making Julia a difficult person. Her personality is very confrontational and blunt and she has a lot of disagreements with her parents but that doesn't make her love them any less. She's nothing like the more usual mil ...more
