What Members Thought
Let me begin by saying that I saw Chicago the movie 10 or more times when it came out. The cinematography astounded me. I loved the angle the movie took to bring the feature to the movie screen. I thought, and still think, it was an inspired adaptation.

"Chicago" is one of my favorite "fun" Broadway musicals (I even liked the movie), so I expected to find this book interesting. What I found was that couldn't put it down; I was intrigued by the stories of the women/killers of Chicago and the quiet girl reporter from Indiana who wrote about them, first for the Chicago Tribune, then in a play that would become, after her death, the musical.

If you've seen the movie, you know the story. In fact, the biggest surprise to me was how closely the real story influenced the play that became the musical that became the movie. Knowing that, I might appreciate the movie more.
