Really not a fan of dark themes involving kids and definitely would have gotten a better rating from me if it had a different focus. But the writing was interesting, the setting and historic elements fascinating, and the characters memorable.
I didn't see that this was an abridged audio, or I would have found a different version to read. I will refrain from rating it since it wasn't the original.
