This is a compelling, intelligent thriller with lots of interesting (for some) info about airplane engineering and operation, and procedures followed in the aftermath of a bad accident. I was surprised by the ending, did not predict the cause for the accident around which the narrative revolves. I really tried to find reasons not to like this one. Don't ask me why. Maybe I thought that my love of Michael Crichton when I was younger was the product of misguided youth. Maybe I just thought that liking Michael Crichton was too cool to be cool anymore. Maybe I just thought it was going to remind me too much of James Patterson.
