No one told me the second story in this collection was a plague one! That makes this a tough 2020 book.

My favorites from this collection were The Husband Stitch and The Resident.

There are a lot of highly mixed opinions on the SVU story Especially Heinous, but I was just happy to see literary representation from someone who also believed that Benson and Cabot had a thing going on.

Poetic and uncomfortable

I thought I would die before I finished this collection. It was so dark and unhappy, but rich and layered, like a self-hating chocolate cake. Well written stories that will make you feel terrible about being human, but all the while determined more than ever to revel in being so.

Most of these stories were very engaging. I didn’t care for the law and order svu one. I thought I would but it was too long and very slow. Not really sure about the last story in the book. Didn’t really know what was going on in it.
