The difference between this and The Dry is like night and day. While I really did not like the writing style of the first book, this one pleasantly surprised me. It is very weird that both were written by the same author but O am glad I didn’t give up at The Dry.

Wow. Strong writing, sense of place, well-developed characters, relationships mother-daughter, sisters, friends. And a good mystery to boot.
IF you can get beyond that total lack of preparation/back-up plan for these office workers on a retreat in the bush... then this is a well-crafted read.
This was a great listen for me.
