I think I am the ideal demographic of who this book will appeal to. I was raised in a religious household, so I get a lot of the references and jokes that someone who is less familiar with Christianity may pass over, but I am no longer religious and am not in the least offended by this irreverent re-telling of Joshua "Jesus" of Nazareth's life told by his wise-cracking best friend Biff.

A bold and innovative concept for a humorous novel, well-researched, and articulate. I laughed out loud on several occasions. In short, it was a success because it did everything it wanted to do for its reader.
Although Moore is right that it probably isn't his target audience in many cases, as he mentions in the notes, I think this book is aided rather than hindered by some knowledge of the Bible and the history of Jesus's life (I myself don't have all that much). ...more

I really like Christopher Moore's books but I just couldn't get into this one.
