Man I was really looking forward to this one. Mythology has always fascinated me, and Toibin's reimaging of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra sounded intriguing. Toibin attempts to put some additional "meat", so to speak, to the Greek legend, providing a somewhat insider view of the happenings between Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, and their children. Read as part of challenge. Trojan War. Agamemnon lured his daughter Iphigenia that she would be married to Achilles, however, sacrificed her to please the Greek gods. Agamemnon's wife Clytemnestra got angry and killed him and story goes like that. More revenge, back stabbings and killings to my taste. The story telling is also not interesting unlike The Song of Achilles which tells story with Achilles as main character.

This is a fabulous book, the writing is incredible and the rhythm of the story told in the voices of the main characters works really well. The full cast narration just adds another level to this. I have read several retellings lately and this is one of the best. It really worked for me
