Picked up at the local Hospital Ladies Auxiliary stall whilst waiting for a blood test. Several people has recommended it to me and it was on my list to get from the library. $4 and signed by the author seemed like a bargain to me. Read 3 chapters before I was called in!

I put this book down because it was a little slow in the beginning, but once I picked it up again i read until the end.

I really enjoyed this.

It's set in a small sheep-farming town in south Australia, with engaging characters and a layered mystery. Mystery#1 (Aaron Falk back to his hometown for the funeral): did Luke Handler kill his wife and son and then kill himself, or was it someone else who murdered all three? Mystery #2: twenty years ago, was Ellie Shepherd murdered, and by whom? Most of the town thinks Aaron did it, but Aaron, who is now a detective with the Melbourne police, insists he's innocent.

Unfortunately, Luke's parents have other plans. Plans which include Aaron looking deeper i

This was an excellent mystery with excellent description of the drought stricken part of Australia where the book takes place. Aaron Falk is a federal agent based in Melbourne but is called back to his hometown for the first time in twenty years to attend the funeral of his best friend, Luke. Twenty years ago, Falk was accused of murder and Luke was his alibi. Aaron and his father had to flee the small town under suspicion. Now, at least one other person knows that Aaron wasn't with Luke on the ...more
