4.5 rounded up. This has been a great read while in SC on vacation with my daughter. I bought it at the Blue Bicycle Books downtown Charleston, a lovely independent bookseller. The novel is told in letters and diary entries, which usually I have trouble getting into, but this time it hit the right note. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
3.5 stars. A mystery, a story of enduring love, told through letters and journal entries, this is an engrossing tale set during the Civil War.
