What Members Thought
This was a read for my library book club in February and I read and listened to it at the same time. I really enjoyed listening to Linda Lavin narrating the story of Ava. The story was interesting following Ava in the 1900’s and the life that a Jewish woman could have.
3.5/5.0 - I enjoyed this book, told in the format of an interview of a Jewish grandmother by her granddaughter, sharing what it was like to grow up as the youngest surviving child of immigrant parents. She has two older sisters, one whom dies, the other marries successfully. Addie waits until she's almost 30 to marry after having worked as a secretary, and then a reporter. The story almost exclusively covers the first 30 years of her life, with the last chapter as sort of a wrap up.
