I have to say, I started out liking this book. The first third, which centered around Archie and Samad's history, kept me interested. I liked the exploration of their war background and how that translated to their current relationship. However, I ended up not really liking any of the characters, and I felt like I was missing something, some deeper, critical meaning. There are some really great lines here and there throughout the book, but in general - it just didn't work for me.
