In a then and now format familiar to readers of Kate Morton's novels, Jessie Burton takes on immigration in 1960s Britain, Brits in Spain in the mid-1930s, and art.

Odelle Bastian gets a surprisingly good job, after lots of rejection, and it comes with an interesting/mysterious boss, who wants to be referred to as "Quick." A painting that arrives to be assessed ties past and present together in ways that are not immediately apparent, but become so as the story moves along.
