I love everything I've read by Jacqueline Wilson and this childhood memoir written in free verse is no exception. It tells of her young life divided between the free, or at least freer north and the times she l lived and visited her grandparents in the south. I personally am not a fan of novels written in verse. However, this particular novel met two reading challenge requirements and it sounded like a very good novel to read.
As I predicted, I found the format to be.... not ideal? Woodson has an interesting story to tell, but I felt like it got lost in the format of the novel.
