I enjoyed this book although at times it felt like the chick-lit version of Susskind's Perfume. I guessed very early on why Grace was the beneficiary of Eva D'Orsey's will, so there weren't too many surprises in the story, but it was an enjoyable read with a good ending.

I originally picked this book up because it was nominated for the Goodreads Choice awards under the Historical Fiction category. I'm glad that I did. I found the characters interesting, and learned about the art of perfume making, which I had pretty much no knowledge of before I started. While the mystery part of the book was fairly prescriptive and easy to figure out, I still found myself engaged throughout. If you're looking for a new read, and like historical fiction, I would recommend this.

I enjoyed this book, I read her previous novel "The Debutante" which was good, but this was way better. The story ended the way I thought it would. I especially loved the time period of Eva. I will read another of Ms. Tessaro's novels in future.
