The Manson murders happened more than 15 years before I was born, so all I knew about them really was that people were killed by a group that idolized Charles Manson and that one of the victims was Roman Polanski's wife.
The book is written by the lead prosecuting attorney, giving us an insider's view of the investigation and trial and what went through his mind in the courtroom. This was fascinating and I raced through the trial portion of the book.

I got probably a little over 1/3 through this book and then shelved it for a while. I'm at a place in my life where I am no longer into reading gruesome things. If I ever get back into this frame of mind I may someday borrow it from the library but for now, I'm moving it along.
