Not a true DNF - I'll come back to this next winter. I read half of it in a snowy cabin in Sweden and then had to move on to something else for a deadline, and now I can't bear to read it when it's all green and chirping birds outside. ...more

Engaging fantasy steeped in Russian folklore. Fascinating mythical characters such as the Rusalka and the Domovoy. Definitely worth the read.

Liked it a lot, not sure if I will read the sequel though. The narration was good with the accent helping create the environment and characters. Definitely has a fairy tale like feel to it.
