It's kind of a shame that Victoria was released so close to The Crown on Netflix because they have such similar themes but are so different in their execution. While The Crown is subtle and moving and magnificent, Victoria is all shiny surface. The major events of Victoria's early reign are dealt with systematically, without any real emotional nuance. 4.5 stars I REALLY liked this book I read it in anticipation of the tv show that was created by the author. It is loosely based on the script I believe and very well done. I really liked the writing style and the characters. I'm excited to see what comes of the tv show as I have heard it goes beyond this first book.
