Even though this is a kids book, I loved it! The young slave girl Isabel/Sal is such a strong and courageous character! I found myself crying at some of the atrocities she faced and cheered her on when she disobeyed her "mistress". GREAT story!!!!! ...more

This was a great YA novel told from the perspective of a young slave girl in NYC during the early years of the American Revolution. I kept saying I was only going to read the first book in the series, but I’m kinda hooked now...
