All about a barbecue. What happened to test these peoples lives?

Erika relationship is being tested. Her friendship if you call a friendship with Clementine is bumpy.

Clementine and her marriage is on its last foot. But it all started after the day that BBQ.

I enjoyed. Enjoy the family drama. Enjoy the mysterious of what happened to get to what caused hell between these people.

I really didn't care for the first half of this book....frustratingly slow. I felt like screaming, "Will you just tell me what happened at the stupid barbecue??!!" I almost gave up, but glad I finished and got the answers. The second half of the book wasn't bad, but the first half could do with 100 or so fewer pages. ...more

I tried to like this book but after reading close to halfway thru, I lost my patience. I ended up skimming the remainder of the book until the last few chapters where the story comes together and events are explained.

I really love Liane Moriarty and this book is right up there with Big Little Lies and What Alice Forgot for me. Moriarty just does her characters and plots so well. I listened to the audio version of this book, read by Caroline Lee, and she is definitely a five star narrator -- probably tied with Bahni Turpin for my personal favorite. Highly recommend the audiobook if you like audiobooks. ...more

3.5 stars I agree with a lot of the "slow burn" story reviews. While I liked this one just a little less then Big Little Lies I still was intrigued by the story itself. One of the few books I brought with me on vacation that I read for a couple hours on the train. I kind of wish I knew more of an ending for the third couple though. I almost felt like after a bit of the middle they floated off and disappeared. But I did really like the story and Ms. Moriarty is becoming a favorite author. This wa ...more
